Overview
SEC Interiors’ completion of Air Business Limited’s new home, The Beacon in Hatfield, Hertfordshire follows two years of extensive planning, design and CAT B interior fit-out works. And subsequently SEC Interiors received an award from the Herts Building & Construction awards 2019 for ‘Highly Commended’.
Air Business Limited, established in 1986 is a global distribution and subscription management company, serving over 300 million subscribers and a host of prestigious clients, including the likes of The Guardian Weekly, New Scientist and Bauer Media Group to name but a few.
“Our business and customer base has expanded so much, we had simply outgrown the space we were in,” comments, Group Managing Director, Adam Sherman. The move to The Beacon “was a strategic business decision aimed at creating greater efficiencies, making our business more environmentally friendly and, ultimately, improving our seamless customer experience by bringing everything under one roof.”
Following the acquisition of this new facility, Air Business was in need of a fit-out partner who could work with them every step of the way, to ensure that the move from their existing base of operations was as seamless as possible.
Solution
In order to prepare the facility for the bulk of the works, SEC made allowances for significant electrical installation throughout the offices and fulfilment warehouse. Various spaces were then created on the ground floor, including print and operations rooms, a large staff breakout space and an office administration area.
Our bespoke fit-out of the 2nd-floor office included the installation of glazed silicon jointed partitioning, which was used to create the senior management offices and meeting room space. A full furniture package was also agreed, with SEC planning the optimum layout of the floor to incorporate various workstations and storage systems.
In the fulfilment warehouse, SEC assisted Air Business with the layout of the machinery and operations areas, whilst also making allowances to design and install a very narrow aisle pallet racking system. “Out in the factory, we’ve helped Air Business with their layout so they get everything going through their process in a sequence,” comments, Russell Coleman, Sales Director of SEC Interiors. “Logistically, Air Business now has a greater volume and better efficiency of throughput.”
