At SEC Exports we utilise a nine-stage Design & Installation Process. This takes us from the initial requirements gathering and analysis process, through a turnkey, fully-project managed installation programme and beyond to a highly-supported, after-sales experience where we support our clients in optimising the warehouse and effectively planning for the future. The stages are briefly outlined below:

Our 9-step design process

  • Phase One - Requirements Gathering

The first stage of any project is to try and ascertain strategically what the client wants to achieve and the business case for doing it. This will generally result in the production of a project brief that crystallises our interpretation of the requirement and informs the rest of our design process.

  • Phase Two - Requirement Analysis

Next begins perhaps the most important phase of the process, where we begin to carry out both quantitative and qualitative analysis of current operations. This will generally include extensive statistical analysis of volumetric, throughput & order-profile data, time-in-motion studies and operational walkthroughs, to provide a wealth of high-quality information that will inform our design decisions going forward and where the return on investment will be. In many cases this may require site visits to remote locations.

  • Phase Three - Conceptual Design

With information to hand, the project team will carry out an extensive review of the requirements and begin to produce initial concept layout design drawings that will be analysed and reworked until there is unanimous agreement the design fits the project brief.

  • Phase Four - Engineered Design

Next, the concept is honed and tested by being subjected to further rigorous analysis and system simulation to ensure that it truly achieves the project brief and that there is sufficient return on investment opportunity for our client. Here we would look not only to our own experienced design team but also to our strategic partners (including Dexion) for material expertise and design support, thereby ensuring our design layouts are optimised to use the best product solutions and relevant international standards in the design

  • Phase Five - Design Optimisation

With a completed design, we now present the solution to the client for discussion. After presentation, a process of collaboration between SEC Exports and the client happens where the design may be slightly altered or adapted to further enhance the solution, prior to signing off the final design.

  • Phase Six - Specification, Quotation & Financial Terms

With a completed design, we are now able to produce for the customer a detailed specification of works, quotation, build-plan and expected ROI report. We will present our plans for post-project support, after-sales care and our solution optimisation process. Additionally, at this phase we shall present our preferred and suggested payment terms for the project to ensure financial risks (inherent with export trade) are minimised.

  • Phase Seven - Order/Contract Placement/Award & Financial Agreement

At this point, the client will decide whether they wish to proceed with SEC Exports and the project and if so, provide a signed instruction or contract to proceed this would include agreement on the financial terms and agreement on draft terms of letters of credit, phased payments, advance payments, credit insurances, or other terms.

  • Phase Eight - Project Delivery

We will now carry out our high-quality delivery process where we will procure and project manage every aspect of the solution through to completion, this includes fulfilling the complex export documentation procedures required by working closely with our strategic partners within government departments. SEC Exports ensure the safe arrival of all materials by using world-leading freight organisations. Where a project includes installation supervision SEC Exports offer internationally accredited engineers with many years of experience in the completion of first-class storage equipment installations.

  • Phase Nine - Solution Optimisation

At SEC Exports, we know that large-scale change-management projects can be difficult to integrate into the business. Consequently, we provide post-sale support, education programs, move management assistance and future planning workshops that the final solution maximises its value to the business.
