Adapt has over 50 years of collective experience in designing, manufacturing, selling and supplying products into the office furniture industry, with a strong focus on ergonomics and a varying range of products, including bespoke design services.
Location: Miton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
The company offers a varied product range, including bespoke design services. Adapt UK Ltd, having recently acquired a new mixed-use facility in Milton Keynes, were looking to refurbish two floors of office space, with the outlook of connecting the existing, first-floor office space to the factory and production environment below on the ground floor.
To do this, SEC found that the best solution would be to install an office mezzanine floor, in turn, creating an interconnected walkthrough between the production and office areas with an access staircase to the factory floor below. SEC’s design also allowed for the incorporation of a dedicated workspace below the mezzanine, complete with a fire rated suspended ceiling and lighting. Provisions were also made to install commando style power supplies and compressed airlines to the factory’s workbench clusters, with the cabling being routed across the factory wall and then dropped down to each bench.

The bulk of the project revolved around the refurbishment of both the ground and first-floor offices. Kitchen tea-points were installed on both floors, finished with gloss white units, integrated appliances and black stone worktop finishes. Vinyl flooring was installed to the downstairs tea-point area, which then transitioned into the carpet flooring of the nearby break-out space. On the first floor office and once the flooring was laid, SEC looked to install full-height, glass partitioning systems to form two new meeting room areas, finished with stylish, glass sliding doors. The WCs on the same floor were also refurbished, including the installation of new toilets with hideaway cisterns, wall hung basins and splash-back tiles to finish. The project has provided Adapt UK Ltd with an outstanding base of operations, and a fully connected, modern working environment that will serve the company going forward for years to come.
