Open FileThe CleanRoom Company has completed the design and installation of a significant turnkey project for Carclo Technical Plastics Ltd (“CTP”), a specialist contract manufacturing and engineering company, who provide injection moulding and device assembly services to the medical industry.
Based in South London, CTP were looking to replace, refit and expand one of their cleanroom production facilities and install five new Injection Moulding machines and assembly/inspection/packing automation. The most critical element was achieving ISO14644 standard class 8, a specific requirement for an important new medical diagnostics customer located in Continental Europe. The application lies in testing for infectious diseases and other medical complaints on a global basis.
The existing building is a 1960s industrial unit, occupied by CTP since the 1980s. The first task was to remove an existing cleanroom and all the old machinery and equipment which was now redundant. Once empty, the CleanRoom Company could begin the installation of their full turnkey solution including the repair of the concrete flooring which would feature a high-quality resin floor finish with damp proof membrane protection to ensure no water could infiltrate the facility from below.
The team fitted insulated panels to the 4m high walls and a thick insulated walk-on standard ceiling to allow easy access to any duct work and lighting components without impacting on operations, as this area remains outside the main cleanroom. The air handling unit was sited on a plant desk and machine supply services and lighting were installed as part of a complete service integration by the team.
The project was completed on time and was fully validated to ISO8 standard classification.
“I am pleased with the build quality and flexibility shown by The Cleanroom Company in working around various timing conflicts especially with the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new production area represents a significant project for CTP and we are looking forward to full product manufacturing commencing.”
