Client Background

REWIND is a creative agency and digital production studio based in St Albans. They are specialists in virtual reality and the creative production behind unforgettable experiential events.

Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire

Before vs After:

Challenges:

When reviewing the plot some of the bigger challenges we encountered in addition to it being a derelict building were, the condition of the property and what requirements were essential to reinstating it, its’ angular configuration which involved careful consideration to best practice when utilizing the office space available and also, the location of the building which sat along a main road in the town.

Solution:

So how did we approach REWIND to provide them with a fully operational modern office environment? The first phase of the project was to completely strip back the current office design and layout so that we were left with the skeleton of the building and then begin the main bulk of the refurbishment works. REWIND wanted a very clean, modern and industrial style effect and so, we explored and presented them with digital walkthroughs of how their finished office space could potentially look. The ceilings were repaired and left exposed, then painted in a dark finish with LED lighting panels, spotlights, and HVAC systems being installed throughout. One of the major ‘must-haves’ was a variety of breakout areas to accommodate employee’s personal needs and to encourage flexibility and company culture. Carpet tiled flooring was laid throughout, with some areas benefitting from accented colour tiles to further define the areas.

“The new office is bright, spacious, flexible and impressive. A fantastic working environment has been created with plenty of different workspaces to accommodate the needs of the team. It’s also a great space for hosting clients, we’re very proud of what has been achieved and enjoy showing it off!

The team at REWIND is rapidly growing, but the space has been designed to grow with us, so we’re futureproofed, which is very important to us.”

What else?

We also introduced stylish kitchen tea-points on both floors, with the larger first floor tea-point featuring a breakfast bar complete with break-out furniture and pendant lighting. A full height, LED back lit feature wall was embedded within the corridor dry-lined wall on the first floor, along with the installation of an oak block wall cladding feature in the reception area, helping to set both spaces apart. To create the feeling of more space, tasteful full height glass partitions embossed with the brand logo were installed to create both the reception and boardroom areas on the first floor. The design was finished with high-end executive style office furniture, supplied to finish the boardroom, and a variety of stylish breakout and standard furniture types including workstations and chairs were supplied to the open plan areas of the office.
