What is Wide Aisle Pallet Racking?

Wide Aisle Pallet Racking is one of the most common pallet storage systems in the world. It is an extremely versatile and cost-effective form of racking that can be utilised without the need for specialised handling equipment or driver training.

This form of racking is constructed in single or double runs, which are separated by a wide aisle allowing 100% selectivity of products. The system is formed of upright frames, pallet support bars and adjustable horizontal beams – these form the racks, enabling you to alter the stock and storage requirements as and when you need to.

System Features

  • 100% -Selectivity
  • FIFO System
  • Fast Operating Speed

Is Wide Aisle Pallet Racking Right For You?

Racking can be re-engineered and reconfigured at any time in the future, and is simple to install, adjust and move if necessary. This is one of the many reasons this racking system is not only one of the most practical when you construct it, but will continue to be able to store your palletised loads further down the line, no matter if your goods change in size, mass, or quantity.

This means you are able to tailor the set-out and measurements of the individual pallets within the racking system to your businesses unique stock and storage requirements, based on your warehouses available space.

Adjustable Pallet Racking is in such high usage throughout the world, that a vast array of accessories and ancillary products have been developed to enable even further flexibility. In particular, these products can be used to easily adapt the racking to picking purposes, and to handle non-palletised products through the use of decked levels or other adaptation.

Features

  • Constructed in single or double runs, which are separated by a wide aisle configuration
  • A Versatile and Cost-Effective Solution – One of the most widely used systems in UK warehousing

  • 100% Product Selectivity – Direct access to every pallet and rack, in every aisle
  • Adjustable – As the system is made up of adjustable beams they can be re-engineered and re-configured – as and when necessary – for the storage of new SKUs and goods

Other Alternatives

If your warehouse facility requires additional racking for increased product storage capacity, you may wish to consider Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) racking solution.

VNA offers increased levels of storage capacity of standard adjustable pallet racking systems, and still provides the benefit of 100% product selectivity.

There is also the benefit that, as the aisles are significantly narrower, there is an increased space potential, down to it being more compact and high density. One of the few downsides of very narrow aisle racking system is that specialist equipment would be required to access the products.

This is a disadvantage that you will not have to worry about encountering with a wide aisle racking system implemented, as the palletised goods are more easily assessable, and the aisles easier to manoeuvre between with any equipment type.

We understand you will have a wide range of products and therefore needs and requirements for the racking system; and that it will not only depend on this but also on your workforce and the way in which they operate best.

SEC Storage undertakes in-depth analysis of your warehouse operation, to ensure you benefit from the optimal solution for you and your business, taking into consideration factors such as volumetrics, product throughputs across peak and non-peak times as well as SKU size and weight.
